Richie’s Rainbow Foundation's mission is to raise awareness of childhood cancer and provide educational resources and support to families and health professionals who are faced with a cancer diagnosis. Around 800 children aged 0-14 in Australia, are diagnosed with cancer each year.
Sadly, approximately 100 of those children will not survive. Those that do survive often face a range of debilitating side effects that may last into adulthood.
Richie’s Rainbow is committed to raising much-needed funds for research into childhood sarcomas, predominately rhabdomyosarcoma, which affects approximately 20-30 children a year in Australia.
Sarcomas remain a challenging diagnosis for many clinicians, and the overall survival rate in this area of childhood cancer has remained relatively unchanged for the past three decades.
Richie’s Rainbow is dedicated to supporting clinicians associated with the Queensland Children's Hospital Brisbane and the Australian and New Zealand Sarcoma Association (ANZSA) so that they are able to conduct vital research into finding kinder and effective therapies for sarcomas.

I'm Richie's Dad and Richie's personal punchbag and partner in crime. Back in England, I had my own Driving school business and it was doing ok! It allowed us to move to Australia, set up, and live the dream with my beautiful family. As you all know my dream is now a nightmare, every day I wake up and can't believe my super cool son is not with us. This has to stop, children should not be dying. Richie's Rainbow Foundation will provide much-needed research into childhood cancer, especially sarcomas, whilst helping other families in a very special way. I have personally picked all my directors who are at the top of their individual fields of expertise. I know they will be a great asset to our cause, as like me, they are all incredibly passionate about what we have planned for Richie's Rainbow. The team and I plan to make the foundation a huge success, not only to honor Richie's name but to make a difference to children and their families facing cancer.

Lisa is a qualified midwife and worked in a busy tertiary unit in the center of Manchester prior to moving to Brisbane where she worked as a midwife in the private sector. Lisa gave up her role as a midwife to care for Richie full time following his devastating diagnosis of Rhabdomyosarcoma in March 2020. Her skills as a midwife and health professional enabled Richie to be cared for at home as much as possible and helped significantly whilst navigating Richie’s care and treatment in partnership with the amazing Drs and nurses responsible for his care. Lisa is obviously extremely passionate about raising awareness of childhood cancer and is committed to raising much-needed funds for sarcoma research, especially Rhabdomyosarcoma. Her determination towards the success of the Foundation, created in Richie’s name, will ensure his legacy will live on not only in his foundation but in all our hearts forever.
